Sub Shack & Deli
312 Main St, Hackettstown, NJ 07840

Upon entering, my first impression was t's very small and tight. Just a counter to order where they make the sandwiches behind plexiglass and a wood counter against the window with three stools to eat in if you'd like, although I doubt many people do. The menu on the wall is hard to read because you can't step far enough back to see the whole thing, but luckily they had paper menus. There were three women behind the counter which seemed a bit cramped for all of them. The one woman asked what we wanted, I replied a number four, whole, and after a pause I said "and add mayo please" which she did not acknowledge. Overall her attitude and demeanor was quite rude and unwelcoming. I wasn't paying attention to her making our sandwich because shortly after I ordered a regular came in and they started gossiping. Another woman caught my attention and asked what we wanted on our sandwiches. I assume she took over because the other woman was talking with her friend or perhaps they pass the sandwiches down a line and one is in charge of meat and the next toppings. Either way this woman was much more pleasant so I was grateful.
The sub itself was a great size, especially for the price. Two people can definitely share a half. The meat was sliced thinly and the bread was pretty good too. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat although most subs are. I wish they didn't package them in plastic wrap but they did provide paper plates and napkins in the to go bag which was nice. I would definitely go back and get another sandwich but I hope to have better service.
