The Barnyard and Carriage House | Totowa, NJ

We went to The Barnyard and Carriage House for dinner. It's a restaurant and also an event space. There was a graduation party upstairs while we were there, but you wouldn't have known it if you didn't see the sign. There is plenty of parking and a pretty large seating area. We sat outside and the ambiance was very nice, although the tables were very low for some reason. They had beautiful landscaping and sand volleyball courts to the side. The inside is dark and like a pub vibe, so it is a little juxtaposed.

We got the Pierogies to start, the Rich Man's Burger, and the Salmon. The Pierogies were fried with caramelized onions and sour cream. They were very good, but could come with more sour cream, in my opinion.

The Rich Man's Burger is sliced filet on garlic bread. I would suggest ordering it rare because it's going to come out medium-medium rare. It was very good but came in a kaiser roll which I think was just slightly too much bread. The fries are nice and crispy.

The salmon was well seared, well seasoned, and very tender. They gave an option of seasonal vegetables or just broccoli. We went with just broccoli. I like that they offered that as most of the time seasonal veggies have a lot of squash and we're not big squash people. The broccoli was all dented and seasoned well. The baked potato was a bit boring, perhaps you have to ask for toppings.

Overall, pretty good food and nice ambiance. Easy to get seating in a Saturday night. If you're looking for a spot to go in North New Jersey, check it out.
